Before transferring files from one server to another, we should know what does “server” mean. In computer field, “server” has many meanings. Such as cloud server, file server, FTP server and so on. In this article, we mainly talk about FTP server. FTP server is a software.html application runs FTP(full name is File Transfer Protocol), which is the protocol for exchanging files over the Internet. It is a standard network protocol used to transfer website to a new host over a TCP-based network, such as the Internet. For secure transmission that protects the username and password, and encrypts the content, FTP is often secured with SSL/TLS (FTPS). SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) is sometimes also used instead, but it is technologically different.

Adding FTP to MultCloud is the key step. Select FTP in the main screen, click “Next” to go.

Enter your FTP’s information as follows:

MultCloud supports FTP includeing SFTP and FTPS. The display name depends on you. You should enter the correct server address, username and password. The advanced option is path. There are two significant points about using MultCloud to manage your FTP.

• Please make sure that you have the read/write permissions before file operations, otherwise, MultCloud may be unable to transfer files into your FTP.
• Please make sure that there is enough space for your operations. We are temporarily unable to identify its size.

After filling in all information, click “Add FTP Account” button to continue, wait a minute, your first FTP account will be added in MultCloud successfully. Then add the second account in the same way.

Transfer files from one FTP to another in MultCloud

Now it is time to teach you how to transfer files from one FTP server to another by MultCloud. Click one FTP on the left panel, you can see all contents are shown in the view. Check all of them if you want to move the whole server. Right click and select “Copy” or “Copy to”.

If you select “Copy”, switch to FTP1, select “Paste” from context menu please. If you select “Copy to”, set in the pop-up window, select FTP1. “Move” option means deleting the original files. “Multi-selection” will help you transfer to several selected servers.

If your files are huge that you can’t transfer them at one time, you can try the Transfer or Backup Service and schedule transfer feature.

Choose the source and the target FTP, click “Schedule Later” from pull-down menu. Set schedule project and save.

You can check, edit, commit the task in Task Manager.
